Confidence: that’s the word that sums
up Greg Skilbeck’s relationship with
accountants TWP.
Greg took over Silverland Stone, a leading
national supplier of natural stone and concrete
products in 1994. TWP were the previous owner’s
accountants and Greg was happy to stay with
a tried and trusted team.
Silverland Stone, which has a workforce of
around 30 people, has its headquarters and
main landscape centre in Chertsey, Surrey,
with further centres in Eastleigh, Hampshire,
Sevenoaks in Kent and Handcross, East Sussex.
It offers around 200 types of stone, sourced
within Britain and from around the world, and
is the largest importer of natural stone from
India in the UK. It has also raised its profile
by supplying products to exhibitors at the
prestigious Chelsea and Hampton Court Flower
Shows, as well as exhibiting at its own stand.
With a thriving business to run, and dozens
of demands on his time, Greg appreciates the
professional expertise that TWP provides. The
firm carries out Silverland Stone’s annual
accounts and stock audit – a week-long
process – but are always available at
the end of the phone if Greg has a question.
He says: “I use them as a help desk – if
I have a tax query, for example, I will ring
them, or if I need any financial advice.
“I like the fact that they are a professional
and substantial organisation. When I ring them
for assistance, I do so with confidence that
they’ll give me the right advice.
“And when my accounts go off to Companies
House, or we have a VAT inspection – which
we have had a couple of times – I never
worry that there will be any unpleasant surprises,
and that’s very reassuring. If I were
asked to recommend an accountant, I would definitely
say TWP.”
